🌍 OptimESM General Assembly – May 20–22, 2025 🌍
The OptimESM General Assembly was in Potsdam from May 20th to 22nd, bringing together the project consortium to review progress and discuss the future of the project.
The primary goal of OptimESM is to develop the next generation of Earth System Models (ESMs), combining higher model resolution and process realism. The project aims to deliver long-term climate projections that better support policy and societal needs, focusing on regional climate change under different levels of global warming, the risk of abrupt Earth system changes, and the regional impacts of such events.
This assembly focused on reviewing the progress made in the first half of the project and shaping its future direction. It was a productive few days of collaboration and idea-sharing!
